U.S. Mayors to Senate: Vote No On Any COVID-19 Bill That Does Not Include Direct Fiscal Assistance For All Cities

Washington, DC –Below is a statement from Tom Cochran, CEO & Executive Director of the U.S. Conference of Mayors:

“The U.S. Conference of Mayors urges the Senate to vote no on any proposal that does not include direct fiscal assistance to the Nation’s local governments, which are on the frontlines of fighting this pandemic and promoting a safe economic recovery. This funding is critically needed to address the public health and economic impacts of this ongoing pandemic; and to make sure that cities have the resources needed to provide critical services and to help lead the Nation to an economic recovery. We call on Congress and the Administration to go back to the negotiating table so that a bipartisan deal that addresses the pressing needs of the American people can be reached.”
